Mexico is essentially divided in half when it comes to cruising, and while some itineraries might cruise along the Panama Canal and therefore be able to visit both coasts, these are longer trips and so are rare. Cruises to Cozumel and ports on the eastern side tend to depart from ports in Florida and Texas, while cruises to Ensenada and ports on the west side will depart from Los Angeles or San Francisco. They are not pushy, and they are very kind.Cruises to Mexico have different departure ports based on which coast of Mexico you’re sailing to. * there are vendors-Nile children-who come by to try to sell you some thing, but when you say no thank you they smile and walk away. Our experience with Sam was fantastic and we would come here again! There are probably a dozen or more similar areas along this beach run by different people. They do a good job keeping the seaweed off the beach by surrounding the beach area with nets, and it’s very easy to cross the net to swim out further.

From Highway 307, take the turnoff to Mahahual, a short distance past Limones. Super easy to catch a taxi back to the ship when it’s time to leave this beautiful location. In fact, Mahahual is a primary city along the Costa Maya and they have named their cruise port, The Port of Costa Maya. A dude brought a menu right to our chair and brought the food to our umbrella-covered table. I had on a one piece bathing suit, and she discreetly took my arms out and pulled the top down a bit while I was laying on my stomach. I can honestly say it’s the best massage I have ever had. They asked for $45 and we negotiated to $35. Then ABSOLUTELY get a one hour massage with Maria or Ruby (hubs had Maria and I had Ruby and both were exceptional) right on the beach. And $15 gets you a lounge chair, table with umbrella, access to bathroom (clean and adequate) Wi-Fi, and a kayak (per person). SOOOO WORTH IT! At the port in Costa Maya, walk through all the shops until you see the taxis and look for Sam with Tipsy Compani or you can book with him ahead of time at Taxi is $8 (for two of us) for a five minute ride to Playa Mahahual. I didn’t have service on the beach either but that wasn’t a concern for me as I wanted to enjoyed the peace and quiet. Minute drive and you will lose service on the way there. We could not find them at all and it took about 15-20 minutes of waiting to get found and then be taken to the beach. So I wish they weren’t there to have easier access to the beach but we made do! I will say that the only negative thing was finding the driver. I ordered a strawberry daiquiri and my boyfriend got a pina colada, both were very good! The ocean was a little smelly but that’s because of the sargassum seawood that’s invaded a majority of the gulf, so it’s been pilling up on many beaches. The food is beyond divine, especially their guacamole. We also got a table to eat at and chairs to get sun in! We were right on the beach. It was a cute little area that had a comfortable outdoor bed and a wooden covering to get out of the sun.

He was very kind and showed us around the beach and led us to where we would be relaxing. I did a ton a research in picking my first ever excursion, it was my boyfriend and I’s first cruise together, after reading reviews I went ahead and booked with Hayhu and i’m so glad I did!!! As soon as we arrived we were instantly greeted by I believe the owner.
